The details for the 2025 social, supper & AGM are as follows:
Date: Tuesday 21st October 2025. Venue: Cyprus Hall, Cyprus Road, Burgess Hill, RH15 8DX. Time: 7.00 – 7.30 pm.
Our guest speaker this year will be Adrian Kirkpatrick, who is the team leader for the West Sussex Fire & Rescue Services ‘ Technical Rescue Unit, a small team who provide water, animal and rope rescue skills to the public and to support the rest of the fire service.
The team attend a wide variety of incidents but the majority involve horses or large farm animals, and these can be in all manner of situations from the basics, such as horses down in the stable unable to get up, to others trapped in rivers and ditches. They have recently attended a number of incidents alongside bridleways, including horses fallen through wooden bridges on paths. and trapped in swimming pools. In the past their work has included going overseas to earthquake disaster relief, although this is no longer part of this national response unit work.
Adrian will briefly explain about Technical Rescue Unit, the area they cover, some past 999 calls, the rescuing methods for equines and farm animals, equipment and vehicles they use and much more. In the past their work has included going overseas to earthquake

The Supper: We will be serving our popular Homemade Beef Chilli and for those who are vegetarian, a delicious vegetarian quiche together with jacket potato, various salads,
followed by pudding.

The Cost: £6.00 per person for members or non-members, this is to cover the cost of the meal. The AGM will then follow with the raffle to finish the evening.
